Since 2000, Staete Landt Wines have produced a range of exclusive and premium wines. Handcrafted by winemaker Ruud Maasdam, our passionate team look after our vines, land and soil with great dedication to make wines that truly represent our unique terroir in Marlborough. We believe the best wines have personality, texture, complexity and great balance.
Marlborough
Most people wouldn’t believe when we planted our first vines in Marlborough there was little more there than a few sparse vineyards. 20 years later, this little haven at the top of the South Island of New Zealand has put an iconic New Zealand-style Sauvignon Blanc on the world map.
We passionately believe you cannot get a better style Sauvignon Blanc than what is crafted from Marlborough grapes, which is why we call it home.
Our People
Passionate winemaker and founder of Staete Landt Wines, Ruud Maasdam, emigrated to New Zealand from The Netherlands in 1996, believing New Zealand to be the best place in the world to grow grapes and make eclectic wines.
He first developed a world-class reserve ‘single’ vineyard wine range from Marlborough’s ‘Golden Mile’, a special small strip of land located on the old riverbed soils in the sub region of Rapaura.
These single vineyard wines were made predominantly from hand-harvested grapes, but as his reputation grew, he then expanded to include grapes from specially selected vineyard parcels from across the Wairau Valley for both the Map Maker and Staete Landt wine series.
